We get a couple of hot days through April and May and we are already itching to dig out the Hawaiian shirts and straw hats, it’s the same every year. You keep thinking to yourself “wait for it! Wait for it!” But the restraint just isn’t there. I say why wait if you have been teased enough by sun then take your holidays in June.

July is perhaps the busiest time and as a result the most expensive, and not just in terms of flights and accommodation but the locals will be less likely to haggle on the price of their fine handmade crafts. I’ve personally found June is just as busy and never fully understand why there is such a price hike around July time, my only thought on the matter is that the kids are off school so everyone charges an extra £200-300 because they know families will cough up.

Holidays in June will not be too desirable for families despite the extra cost because it will interfere will their children’s education. However if you think one week without finger painting won’t ruin their chances of going to Cambridge then it is worth taking your summer holidays in June.

For all you party people it is slightly cheaper to go in June and in all honesty it is just the same as going July, although I do appreciate some of the super clubs in places like Ibiza don’t open till late June early July. If this is your reasoning then I have an idea worth thinking about and that is to book your holiday so that it crosses over from into June into July and then you are getting the best of both worlds and it still can be considerably cheaper.

Holidays in June are perhaps the most under-rated for whatever reason with great sun and busy nightlife that mirrors the rest of the summer month, but then a price that is much more appealing it is certainly the most opportune time to go travelling.
